MEDIAN
Excel MEDIAN Function
Excel has a pre-made function called MEDIAN that returns the data’s middle value.
The typeface is =MEDIAN.
Note: The median, a kind of average value, indicates the location of the data’s center. Our Statistics Median Tutorial has information about median.
The data must be sorted and ordered from low to high in order to manually calculate the median. The MEDIAN function takes care of this for you, so using it is not essential.
How to use the =MEDIAN function, step by step:
- Select a cell (H2)
- Type =MEDIAN
- Double click the MEDIAN command
- Select a range (A2:G2)
- Hit enter
